I love this business and I love to sell and there is no doubt about this fact. I have
discovered over the years that I am most drawn to consultative selling. Nothing
gives me greater pleasure than to be able to help sort out the intricacies of the
ANSI 107 spec with a client and then to help them determine what design and what
materials will go into the garments they will be providing to their employees.
Well into our careers both Bill and I realized that corporate life was becoming less
and less satisfying and began to think about moving in a different direction. With
Bill’s background in reflective materials and my background in garment design we
felt that we had the capabilities of branching out and doing something on our own.
While we knew that a startup venture was going to involve a great deal more work
than buying an existing business, we felt that starting over from scratch was going
to be the best way for us to create the kind of working environment we wanted and
the freedom to partner with our clients.
If I have learned anything over the years about selling, it can be summed up in a
single sentence. Business relationships that don’t work for both the buyer and
seller are in the long run doomed. We have tried to build a business model around
this principal rather than taking the more typical approach of “growing the top line
at whatever cost”.
It is not important to me to have the largest Hi-Vis garment business in the country.
What is important to me is to have a business that supplies the best products at
fair prices and to do this in a timely fashion. I am confident that you will find the
quality of our garments to be high, our pricing to be reasonable and our
turnaround times to be exceptional. I am also confident that you will find no other
business owner in this industry that takes a more hands on approach than I do.
